Leading Third-Crop sire Tapiture got his 10th lifetime stakes winner Monday at Presque Isle Downs when Longshadow won a very tight photo to take the $75,000 Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile S.
The win marked the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old Tapiture colt, who has won two of three lifetime starts, including his 10 ½-length maiden debut in early August.
Longshadow got a good stalking trip while three-wide most of the way. The 6 1/2-furlong race was wide open with just a furlong to go, with Longshadow proving best by a nose over the even-money favorite Nobals.
The final time was 1:15.53, less than a second off the track record.
Owned by James Horgan, Longshadow has earned $72,800 to date. He was bred in Kentucky by Dede McGehee.
